About Us

The St. Andrew's Society of Connecticut welcomes all who wish to share their love of Scotland, Scottish heritage and culture. Membership is open to all, you don't have to be Scottish to belong.

Throughout the year members and guests gather together to celebrate Robert Burns' birthday; and also for a High Tea, a family picnic, sometimes an ice cream social, and in the past to sponsor a Scottish Festival.

A tradition of "Good Works" and "to relieve the distressed" are common threads that connect all St. Andrew's Societies and underlie our goals. The St. Andrew's Society of Connecticut is a nonprofit, all volunteer, charitable organization. Since our inception, over $65,000 has been given to various charities here in Connecticut, such as the Connecticut Children's Burn Camp, Aids Camp, various VNA's, Connecticut Food Bank, Operation Fuel and in Scotland such as the Children's Hospice Association Scotland, Highland Hospital, Army Benevolent Fund, Cairngorm Mountain Rescue. In addition, over $45,000 has been awarded in scholarships for the study of various aspects of Scottish culture, such as dance, bagpipes, Gaelic singing, dance judging, kilt making.

We have a Library with books, videos, audio tapes and other information. Members are entitled to borrow library items. We have genealogy resources for those members interested in tracing their families.
